BATHCASTS – MOSELEY ROAD BATHS
‘Bathcasts’ is a podcast series produced by The Young Curators and Moseley Road Baths. Opened in 1907, Moseley Road Baths is a Grade II listed swimming pool and bath house in Moseley, Birmingham. In 2023 they recruited a group of early-career creatives to become Young Curators and make an exciting new digital creation inspired by Moseley Road Baths.
The young curators have designed and developed an innovative new podcast called ‘Bathcasts’ where someone connected to the historic baths gets interviewed within one of its bathtubs. The comedic host, Rachel Baker, has interviewed six people about their lives, the community building, and the temperature of the bath water they are sat in. Alongside these interviews they commissioned original poetry and music for each episode from 10 Birmingham artists.
This bold and brilliantly innovative podcast encourages you to listen to it in the bath at home, immersing yourself in water at the same time as our interviewees.
I recorded all six interviews for this series, on location in bathtubs in Birmingham and Glasgow. I also edited all the episodes, working alongside producer Gaby Songui. ‘Bathcasts’ is available on Spotify, Podbean, Youtube and Soundcloud – check the links tab below.
‘Bathcasts’ launched on 18 November 2023 with 6 weekly episodes. Commissioned by Mosely Road Baths, produced by Gaby Songui and the Young Curators and made possible with funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund.
