This track was composed in the summer of 2021 during the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. At the time many people in the UK were deciding whether to take the gamble of travelling overseas for foreign holiday. With all the risks of the everchanging UK traffic light system (that rated the Covid safety of different countries) and simply travelling during a pandemic I, like many, decided instead to ‘holiday at home’.

I’ve been fortunate to have travelled abroad over the years and these trips are usually documented by field recordings, sonic snapshots if you like, of the places I visit. This soundscape presents a small selection of these souvenirs that I hope will transport you to some foreign shores when you are stuck at home. Our trip will take in a marina in the Azores, temple celebrations in Singapore and Italian church bells from the Adriatic coast. After a rainy afternoon in rural India, and a busker in Birmingham (my home), a Bangkok river boat drops us off at Bordeaux train station before a final stop at the Cathédrale Saint-André.
