HUMNAHOOD MULTIVERSE

‘Multiverse’ is an 8 minute virtual reality dance experience that uses motion captured choreography to generate a virtual dancer in the VR space.

Multiverse is a hypnotic full-body VR experience that combines interactive clouds-like visuals, haptic feedback bodysuits, synchronised breathing and immersive sound-score, ushering the user into a 8min multi-sensory ride. The virtual scenario is manifested with cloud-like shapes in a black 360-degree background that becomes an all embracing cosmos of stars. The cloud-like sphere inherits the shape of a human body, dancing and ever-morphing as it interacts with the user through real-time feedback. The narrative of the scenes leads the user through a deep exploration of the self and its multiple facets has they become a part of the dance. A voice introduces various elements of the journey, and guides the user through the different interactions within world of the Multiverse.

I composed the music which was created in ambisonics to provide an immersive, 3D soundworld. The work includes interactive elements between the user and the dancer. The visuals were created by Tobias Gremmler and the project was built in Unity by Verena Henn with choreography and creative direction from Humanhood’s Julia Robert and Rudi Cole.

The work is experieinced using a Meta Quest VR headset and headphones and toured art galleries, theatres and festivals including Midlands Arts Centre Birmingham (2024), V&A London (2024), Sadlers Wells East London (2025).
