SOUNDwalk: a-n Assembly

This soundwalk was created by SOUNDkitchen, programmed by curator and artist Antonio Roberts and commissioned by a-n (Artist Information Company) for their 2018 Assembly event hosted at Eastside Projects gallery in Digbeth.

The event addressed the increasing amount of development taking place across Birmingham and the Midlands as a whole, exploring both the opportunities and the challenges this presents for the visual arts community in the region. This walk explores some of the arts spaces around Digbeth reflecting on the changes that the area has seen over the years and will continue to see through continued regeneration. It includes interviews with staff from local arts organisations who are directly impacted by the develpoments and changing use of the area including Gavin Wade of Eastside Projects,  Cheryl Jones from Grand Union at Minerva Works and Richard Short from Centrala.

The walk also includes enviromental recordings from each of the venues alongside trains, workshops and businesses, local night clubs, the River Rea and the Grand Union canal.
