SPHERA

SPHERA is a visually impactful outdoor duet for non-conventional spaces that explores the relationship between the visible, bright side of the Moon and humankind; the luminous moonlight that we see from planet Earth and illuminates our nights. SPHERA is a dance of liquid bodies that change and morph under the influence of the Earth’s spherical satellite: the Moon.
Humanhood

I composed the music for Humanhood’s Sphera in the spring of 2020. This is my third collaboration with the company following ZERO (2016) and Orbis (2017). Conceived as a partner piece to Orbis, this work is also a duet performed on a circular set with the music presented in ambisonic surround sound via 6 loudspeakers arranged around the performers and the audience. The music is lighter in character than Orbis, combining instrumental and vocal samples with rhythmic drive. The multichannel sound design immerses the audience and the performers in a fluid and dynamic soundscape.

Sphera was supported by RocaUmbert and funded by Arts Council England. Premiere: Greenwich & Docklands International Festival, London, 5th September 2020. Toured internationally.
